Every Six Months?

Do we really need to visit the dentist every six months?

After high school, many adults cut back on their dental visits. While 83% of children between the ages of 2-17 visit the dentist regularly, only 61.7% of adults make the dentist a regular part of their life.

With our unique approach to a relaxing dental experience at DDC, we are looking to change those statistics. Seeing the dentist at least every six months is not only critical to your oral health, it may also be essential to your overall health. While some patients may need to visit the dentist more often because of pressing concerns with their oral health, health professionals recommend that all patients visit the dentist every six months.

Regular dental visits help with the following:

1. Early Detection

Because we typically see our DDC patients more often than their physician, we have the opportunity to catch health concerns early. During your regular visit to DDC, we check for gum disease, oral cancer, diabetes, and vitamin deficiencies. All are diseases and health issues that patients may not have known about without attending their regularly scheduled dental appointment. As we all know, the earlier any disease is detected, the greater the success with treatment. Early detection will not only save you time and money, it may also save your life.

2. CLEANING

The majority of a dental visit focuses on the condition of your oral health and more specifically, your teeth. Because plaque can build up quickly and contribute to tooth decay, the DDC team pays special attention to the plaque and tartar buildup caused by the foods you eat and the care your teeth receive between cleanings. If soft plaque is not removed, it can harden on your teeth and irritate your gums leading to gum disease, also known as periodontitis. During your regular visit, we remove plaque above and below the gum line. Plaque is a quick destroyer and visiting the dentist regularly can keep it under control.

3. Polishing

Professional polishing can help remove external stains from substances like coffee, tea, and other contributors that may have caused discoloration. During polishing, the DDC team uses a special Prophylaxis paste designed to make your teeth shiny and smooth.

4. We Love To See You

Of course there are many oral health benefits to visiting the dentist regularly, but you should know that we really do love to see our patients. Six months is a long time between visits and we love to catch up and hear how you've been doing since we last saw you. Following your regular visits with the DDC team, we hope you leave feeling rested and inspired to live life to the fullest.

Please make your regular dental visits a priority because we do. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
